Burraga
Dam
Burraga is a
small village south west of Oberon. The dam was built on Thompsons
Creek and as a result is sometimes known as Thompsons Creek Dam. It
should not be confused with the dam of the same name located near
Wallerawang.
Burraga Dam was used to supply water to a local copper mine (1879 -
1916), but recreational use of the dam now the main purpose of the dam.
Power boats are not currently permitted, however canoeing and camping
are allowed. Toilets are provided at the old pump house.
The dam is accessable at the northern end of Jeromy Road or just off
Arkstone Road. Click here for a Map

Fishing Information
Burraga Dam has been stocked with Rainbow Trout and a small number of
Golden and Silver Perch. Trout fishing is far more popular here as
there are plenty of trout.
According to some local fishermen, there may also be redfin perch in the dam.
The most popular method
is bait
fishing with worms and PowerBait, particularly during the cooler months
(if you can stand the cold). Fly fishing with dry flies can be very
productive in the
warmer months.
